Marta e Maria Martha and Mary

Leitura: Lucas 10:38-42  Em meio à rejeição dos religiosos judeus, Jesus encontra um oásis de refrigério na casa de Lázaro, Marta e Maria. Os três irmãos moram no povoado de Betânia, a poucos quilômetros de Jerusalém, e é ali que Jesus costuma repousar em suas viagens. A parábola do samaritano nos ensinou o que é realmente amar e servir segundo o padrão de Deus, mostrando no verdadeiro Samaritano o exemplo perfeito do amor que não se omite em salvar e cuidar.  Mas antes que você arregace as mangas e saia por aí resgatando os perdidos caídos à beira do caminho, conheça Marta e sua disposição para o trabalho. Tentando servir o hóspede Jesus da melhor maneira, Marta “estava ocupada com muito serviço” enquanto “Maria, sua irmã, ficou sentada aos pés do Senhor, ouvindo-lhe a palavra”. Indignada com a aparente inatividade da irmã, Marta se queixa: “Senhor, não te importas que minha irmã tenha me deixado sozinha com o serviço? Dize-lhe que me ajude!” (Lc 10:38-40).  Você às vezes se sente assim? Corre de um lado para outro e se indigna de alguns que parecem não fazer coisa alguma, pois só ficam ocupados com a leitura da Palavra e a oração? Talvez você pense: “Só eu trabalho!” Cuidado, você está tão ocupado em servir ao Senhor que pode cair no erro de se queixar e dar ordens a ele, como Marta faz aqui: “Senhor... dize-lhe que me ajude!”. Sempre que nos queixamos estamos nos queixando ao Senhor, pois afinal é ele quem cuida de nós e não estamos satisfeitos com seu cuidado. E quando nos achamos mais úteis e responsáveis do que outros, por não fazerem exatamente o que fazemos, nosso coração acaba ficando cheio de orgulho e soberba.  Marta se deixou levar pelo trabalho sem perceber que perdeu o foco em Jesus e na sua Palavra. O Senhor a repreende: “Marta! Marta! Você está preocupada e inquieta com muitas coisas; todavia apenas uma é necessária. Maria escolheu a boa parte, e esta não lhe será tirada” (Lc 10:41-42). O trabalho de Marta faz com que ela deixe de se ocupar com Cristo e sua Palavra. Repare que Jesus não diz que Maria escolheu “a melhor parte”, mas “a boa parte”. Ele não está fazendo comparações e dizendo a Marta que seu serviço não é importante, mas apenas dizendo que ela perdeu o foco. Quando estamos muito ocupados com a obra do Senhor acabamos perdendo de vista o Senhor da obra.  Existe uma ordem na vida do cristão. Primeiro ele deve sentar-se aos pés de Jesus para aprender dele, lendo e meditando em sua Palavra. É assim também que você aprende qual é a vontade de Deus para a sua vida. Então as tarefas que Deus colocar em suas mãos para cumprir virão naturalmente. Quando aprendemos dele ficamos prontos “para fazermos boas obras, as quais Deus preparou de antemão para que nós as praticássemos” (Ef 2:10).

Reading: Luke 10: 38-42  Amid the rejection of religious Jews, Jesus finds a refreshing oasis in the house of Lazarus, Martha and Mary. The three brothers live in Bethany, a few kilometers from Jerusalem, and it is there that Jesus often stand in his travels. The Samaritan parable taught us what is really love and serve according to the standard of God, showing the true Samaritan the perfect example of love that does not omit to save and care.  But before you roll up your sleeves and go around rescuing the lost fallen by the wayside, meet Martha and her willingness to work. Trying to serve the guest Jesus in the best way, Martha "was distracted with much serving" as "Mary, her sister, who sat at the Lord's feet, listening to his word." Outraged by the apparent inactivity sister, Martha complains: "Lord, do not you care that my sister has left me alone with the service? Tell her to help me "(Lk 10: 38-40)!.  Do you sometimes feel that way? Runs from side to side and unworthy of a few that seem to do nothing, because are only occupied with the reading of the Word and prayer? You might think: "I just work!" Be careful, you are so busy in serving the Lord that can make the mistake of complaining and give orders to him as Marta doing here, "Lord ... tell her to help me ". Whenever we complain are complaining to the Lord, because after all it is he who takes care of us and we are not satisfied with their care. And when we find most useful and responsible than others for not doing exactly what we do, our hearts ends up full of pride and arrogance.  Marta was carried away by the work without realizing that lost focus on Jesus and His Word. The Lord rebuke: "Marta! Marta! You are worried and upset about many things; but only one is required. Mary has chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her "(Luke 10: 41-42). Marta's work makes her leave to deal with Christ and his Word. Notice that Jesus does not say that Mary has chosen "the best part" but "the good part". He is not making comparisons and telling Martha that their service is not important, but just saying it lost focus. When we are too busy with the Lord's work we lose sight of the Lord's work.  There is an order in a Christian's life. First he must sit at Jesus' feet to learn it by reading and meditating on His Word. This is also how you learn what the will of God for your life. So the tasks that God puts in your hands to accomplish will come naturally. When we learn we we ready "to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Eph 2:10).
