Leitura: Lucas 24:25-32 Os discípulos a caminho de Emaús são repreendidos por serem lerdos em crer no que diziam as Escrituras. “Ele lhes disse: ‘Como vocês custam a entender e como demoram a crer em tudo o que os profetas falaram! Não devia o Cristo sofrer estas coisas, para entrar na sua glória?’ E começando por Moisés e todos os profetas, explicou-lhes o que constava a respeito dele em todas as Escrituras.” (Lc 24:25).  O tema principal do Antigo Testamento é Cristo, o Cordeiro que viria para morrer no lugar do pecador, ressuscitar e “entrar na sua glória”. O tema do Novo Testamento é o mesmo Cristo, que agora já veio e cumpriu a obra que havia sido prenunciada no Jardim do Éden, quando Deus sacrificou um animal inocente para cobrir com sua pele a nudez de Adão e Eva. No passado uma pessoa devia crer no Cordeiro que Deus iria providenciar; hoje você é salvo crendo no Cordeiro que Deus já providenciou.  Quando Jesus começa “por Moisés e todos os profetas” para explicar o que tinha sido escrito de si mesmo, ele está incluindo todas as Escrituras, de Gênesis a Malaquias. Alguém que diz crer apenas nos Evangelhos ou nas palavras de Jesus, e não no Antigo Testamento, certamente nunca percebeu que ele está aqui autenticando tudo o que foi escrito, inclusive aquelas passagens que muitos consideram desagradáveis ou politicamente incorretas segundo os costumes da civilização moderna.  Lembre-se de que ainda que nós não sejamos capazes de compreender o que Deus disse e fez no Antigo Testamento, mesmo assim ele é Deus e a sua Palavra é verdade. Sempre que duvidarmos dele estaremos errando, por mais que a lógica e o bom senso queiram no dizer que é a sabedoria humana que deve prevalecer. Os homens têm suas próprias maneiras de enxergar as coisas por desconhecerem os propósitos de Deus e se colocarem como o centro do Universo. É por isso que Jesus repreende os fariseus por sua incredulidade no capítulo 5 do Evangelho de João:  “Como vocês podem crer, se aceitam glória uns dos outros, mas não procuram a glória que vem do Deus único? Contudo, não pensem que eu os acusarei perante o Pai. Quem os acusa é Moisés, em quem estão as suas esperanças. Se vocês cressem em Moisés, creriam em mim, pois ele escreveu a meu respeito. Visto, porém, que não creem no que ele escreveu, como crerão no que eu digo?” (Jo 5:44-47).

"I told them, 'How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Christ to suffer these things and enter into his glory? The main theme of the Old Testament is Christ the Lamb who would come to die in the place of the sinner, raise and "enter into his glory." When Jesus begins "by Moses and all the prophets" to explain what had been written of himself, he is including all the Scriptures from Genesis to Malachi. Someone claiming to believe only in the Gospels or in the words of Jesus, not in the Old Testament certainly never realized that he's here authenticating all that has been written, including those passages which many consider unpleasant or politically incorrect according to the customs of modern civilization. Remember that even though we are not able to comprehend what God said and did in the Old Testament, yet he is God and His Word is true. Whenever we doubt it will be missing, however much logic and common sense want to say is that human wisdom must prevail. Men have their own ways of seeing things through ignorance God's purposes and stand as the center of the universe. That is why Jesus rebukes the Pharisees for their unbelief in chapter 5 of the Gospel of John: "How can you believe if you accept praise from one another but do not seek the glory that comes from the only God? However, do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. He accuses them is Moses, in whom their hopes are. If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. Since, however, who do not believe in what he wrote, how can they believe in what I say "(John 5: 44-47)?.
